Pushing an aircraft is a torque problem, not a power one. The tractor has to break a very large mass out of standstill smoothly enough that nothing in the nose gear notices, then hold a walking pace. Switched reluctance produces its torque from zero speed, which is exactly the shape of that duty.

This kit uses two Actium Duo units — four stacks in total, 240 kW peak between them — with axle-integration hardware, HV harness and distribution, and a VCU on the vehicle CAN bus.

Electric drive also changes what the operator hears. A pushback runs metres from the aircraft and from the crew working around it, and removing the engine removes the noise floor they have been shouting over.
